Crime wave hits Limburg-Weilburg with burglaries and a car crash
A series of break-ins, thefts, and a traffic accident marked the last week of October and early November across the Limburg-Weilburg region. Police reported multiple incidents, including burglaries in Villmar, Obertiefenbach, and Hünfelden-Kirberg, as well as a car crash in Waldbrunn-Hausen that left one person injured.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 28, at around 1:30 AM, when unknown individuals entered a garage in Villmar. They left without taking anything after noticing security cameras. Just over an hour later, at 2:04 AM, two people broke into another locked garage in the same area. This time, they stole four high-end mountain bikes, including an e-mountain bike, with a combined value of around €18,400.
On Saturday, November 1, a car skidded off State Road 3022 in Waldbrunn-Hausen at approximately 2:19 PM. The Renault Twingo struck a tree, leaving the passenger with minor injuries. Emergency services took them to a nearby hospital as a precaution. The vehicle was declared a write-off, with damages estimated at €5,000. That same day, multiple burglaries took place in Obertiefenbach. At 6:45 PM, intruders attempted to force entry into a detached house in Beselich-Obertiefenbach, damaging the patio door. An hour later, at 7:30 PM, another group broke into a residential home in the same area. They searched every room and stole various items, causing around €500 in damage. Between 4:00 PM and 8:30 PM, a separate incident saw perpetrators smash a window to enter the rear of a different home, also in Obertiefenbach, resulting in another €500 of property damage. Additionally, unknown individuals broke into the clubhouse of TuS Obertiefenbach's sports grounds, causing approximately €300 in damage. Meanwhile, in Hünfelden-Kirberg, intruders targeted an apartment, stealing a safe and various coins. The exact value of the stolen items has not yet been confirmed. Between October 1 and November 1, grave decorations were also stolen from Limburg's main cemetery, with damages estimated at €100.
Authorities are investigating all incidents, which include thefts totalling over €18,000 in stolen goods and several thousand euros in property damage. The injured passenger from the Waldbrunn-Hausen crash has since been discharged from hospital, while police urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
