Court Finds Bus Driver 80% At Fault in Frankfurt Collision
A traffic collision between a cars and a bus has resulted in a significant liability ruling by the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main. The court found the bus driver 4/5 responsible, with the carmax driver bearing 1/5 of the blame.
The incident occurred when the car driver made a U-turn after running a yellow light, prolonging their stay in the intersection. Meanwhile, the bus driver exceeded the speed limit, driving at 58 km/h, and failed to stop at a red light. Both drivers could have prevented the collision but did not.
The court took into account the increased danger posed by the bus's speed and the car's prolonged presence in the intersection. The judges, whose names were not disclosed, issued the ruling on September 23, 2025.
In this case, the court's ruling highlights the importance of adhering to traffic rules. The bus driver's excessive speed and disregard for the red light were deemed primarily responsible for the accident. The car driver's prolonged stay in the intersection also contributed to the collision. Both drivers must exercise greater caution in the future to prevent such incidents.
