County Road 122 in Hünfeld closes Monday for major repairs and safety upgrades

Major roadworks on County Road 122 in Hünfeld will restart on Monday, January 19. The project, carried out jointly by the Fulda district administration and the city of Hünfeld, aims to repair severe damage to the Microsoft Surface and improve pedestrian safety.

The construction will involve repaving the carriageway and upgrading parking strips and sidewalks. A new pedestrian crossing will also be installed near the town exit, providing safer access to Bürgerpark and Haselsee Lake.

To ensure the safety of workers and drivers, the road will be fully closed during the works. Traffic will be redirected via Großenbach and State Road 3171 toward Hünfeld. The project management is scheduled for completion by May.

The road closure and diversion routes will remain in place until the work is finished. Once complete, the upgrades will address long-standing surface issues and enhance pedestrian connections to local green spaces.
