The Zell Valley Bridge, a key transport link along the B45 route in southern Hesse, was demolished in late July 2025 due to severe structural damage. Authorities had closed the bridge in April after discovering dangerous cracks in the concrete, prompting urgent action for safety reasons.

The contract to rebuild the bridge has now been awarded to a consortium led by Eiffage Infra-South and Eiffage Infra-West. The construction firm will finalise detailed plans as quickly as possible, with preparatory work potentially beginning in spring 2026.

Once underway, the new bridge is expected to take around a year to complete. To keep the public updated, Hesse Mobil has launched a WhatsApp newsletter, allowing residents to follow progress directly. Sign-ups are available through the official website at https://mobil.hessen.de/whatsapp.

The demolition of the old structure marks the first step toward restoring a crucial connection for the region. With construction set to begin in early 2026, the new bridge will reinstate a reliable route along the B45, improving travel for both local and long-distance traffic.
