Compass Airlines ceases operations after American Airlines contract cuts

Compass Airlines, a regional carrier for American Airlines, will shut down in early April. The move comes as the airline industry continues to face challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the second closure under Trans States Holdings, following GoJet Airlines last year.

The shutdown was triggered by American Airlines reducing its contracted flying with Compass by 14%. Further cuts were expected before the final decision to close. The airline’s remaining flights will be completely grounded from April 7, ending all operations at Los Angeles International Airport.

With all flights ending on April 7, Compass Airlines will no longer operate any routes. The shutdown follows broader industry cuts and the expiration of its contract with American Airlines. This leaves Trans States Holdings with no active airlines after two pandemic-related closures.
