Unannounced Protest Action Against AfD Information Booth in Kirchhain - Clashes erupt as anti-fascist protesters disrupt AfD's election campaign in Kirchhain

A small group of protesters gathered at an AfD campaign stand in Kirchhain on Monday morning. Around 25 to 30 people took part in the unregistered demonstration, which they described as an 'anti-fascist action'. The event led to police intervention after participants refused to disperse.

The protest began early, with demonstrators surrounding the AfD stand while holding banners. Police arrived quickly and ordered the group to leave, but many ignored the instructions at first.

Two individuals were eventually taken away by officers before the remaining protesters left without further incident. Kirchhain's mayor, Olaf Hausmann of the SPD, also arrived at the scene, though no organiser stepped forward to identify themselves.

The AfD has been actively campaigning in Hessian local elections, aiming to field candidates in every district. Their strategy includes posters, flyers, and information stands, with a focus on increasing visibility and securing mandates. The next local elections in Hesse are scheduled for March 15, 2026.

Authorities confirmed that participants now face administrative proceedings for breaching Hesse's assembly law.

The unregistered protest ended after police intervention, with two people removed from the scene. Those involved could receive penalties under local regulations. The AfD's campaign efforts in the region continue as part of their broader electoral strategy.
