City Library Marks 50th Anniversary, Wins Prestigious Hessian Prize
The city library, a hub of learning and leisure, welcomes over 300 visitors daily. Recently, it marked its 50th anniversary with a week-long celebration. Notably, it has been recognised with the prestigious Hessian Library Prize.
The library, situated at the market square, has evolved significantly. It was modernised and expanded between 2012 and 2014, transforming into a multimedia centre. Today, it offers a wide range of resources, from traditional books to eBooks, audiobooks, films, magazines, and even board games and console games. The library's commitment to innovation and diversity has been recognised. In 2025, it received the Hessian Library Prize, awarded by the Sparkassen Kulturstiftung Hessen-ThΓΌringen.
To celebrate its golden jubilee, the library hosted a series of events from Tuesday, 21.10 to Saturday, 25.10.25. These events catered to different age groups and interests, reflecting the library's inclusive nature.
