Citizen service continues to grow with municipal autonomy
Hanau is preparing for a major administrative change as it becomes an independent city on January 1, 2026. One of the key shifts will involve driver’s licence services, which will move from the Main-Kinzig-Kreis administration to the city’s own Citizen Service Center. The centre already provides around 50 services in a modern, user-friendly setting.
From the start of 2026, all driver’s licence matters will be handled at the Citizen Service Center, located at Kurt-Blaum-Platz 8. This includes renewals, extensions, replacements, and conversions. The city has not yet announced who will lead the new office, but the transition is confirmed.
Residents can already book appointments for these services online via www.hanau-digital.de or by calling 06181 2950-2033. The move aims to streamline processes and make them more accessible under Hanau’s direct administration.
The Citizen Service Center has built a reputation for efficiency and customer focus. With this expansion, it will become the central point for driver’s licence services, reducing the need for residents to travel outside the city.
The change marks a significant step in Hanau’s transition to independence. Driver’s licence services will now be managed locally, offering residents a more convenient and centralised system. The city expects the shift to improve accessibility and service quality for all licence-related needs.
