Chaos erupts at Hochheimer Markt festival with thefts, assaults, and hit-and-runs
A weekend of disorder unfolded in the Taunus region, with thefts, assaults, and hit-and-runs reported. Authorities are investigating these incidents, which occurred amidst the bustling Hochheimer Markt festival and other local events.
On Saturday, November 8, a Google Pixel 7a smartphone was stolen from the Hochheimer Markt festival. The thief targeted a parked cargo bike, using cutting tools to break the lock, and rode off towards Schwalbach am Taunus. The bike was later recovered using its tracking system. Meanwhile, a parked Volkswagen Polo was damaged in a hit-and-run incident on Mammolshainer Weg in Hofheim am Taunus. The driver responsible fled without fulfilling their legal obligations, causing approximately €500 in property damage.
Later that evening, a firefighter was assaulted at the Hochheimer Markt festival. A 25-year-old man from Mainz punched the firefighter in the face while they were assisting a woman in need. The assailant initially fled but was later apprehended by police. In separate incidents, a 39-year-old man from Idstein and a 28-year-old woman were arrested for driving under the influence in Eppstein and Kelkheim, respectively. Both were taken to the police station for further processing. Additionally, a cargo bike of the brand Urban Arrow was stolen in Bad Soden am Taunus on the same day.
