Traditional Bakery Löbig Says Farewell - City of Rödermark Honors Centuries-Old Craftsmanship

Five months after the final closure of the Löbig bakery, the city of Rödermark has honored the owners Wolfgang and Martina Löbig for their decades of dedication to the family business.

A long-standing bakery in Rödermark has closed its doors after 263 years of service. Löbig Bakery, located on Bahnhofstraße in Urberach, ended its baking tradition in April, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in the community. Five months later, the town honoured the Löbig family for their commitment to the family business.

Wolfgang Löbig, a master baker, ran the business for nearly 50 years. Under his leadership, the bakery became more than just a place to buy bread—it was a social hub where customers gathered daily. Many locals relied on it as part of their daily routines, valuing the personal connections as much as the food.

The closure of Löbig Bakery brings an end to a tradition that spanned over two and a half centuries. The family’s departure leaves a gap in Urberach, where their presence shaped daily life for generations. While the bakery’s doors have shut, the town’s tribute ensures their legacy remains remembered.
