Central Hesse: Large Donation Handout: 1,029 Bars of Chocolate Support Ukraine Aid Action Just Before Christmas

A large shipment of chocolate, once seized by police, is now on its way to Ukraine as a festive donation. The handover took place earlier this month at a logistics hub in Gießen, where the treats will bring some holiday cheer to those in need.

The story began on 22 October 2025, when Marburg police confiscated 1,029 chocolate bars during a routine traffic stop. Instead of being discarded, the sweets were set aside for a better purpose.

Weeks later, on 10 December, the chocolate arrived at Global Aid Network’s (GAiN) logistics centre on Siemensstraße 13 in Gießen. Mr. Schmidt, the logistics manager, received the donation on behalf of the organisation.

The bars have since been packed into aid convoys heading for Ukraine. With careful planning, the shipment is expected to reach its destination before Christmas.

The donated chocolate will now serve as a small but meaningful gift for people facing hardship this winter. The aid convoy’s arrival in Ukraine will coincide with the holiday season, offering a brief moment of comfort to those receiving it.
