Central Hesse: Large Donation Handout: 1,029 Bars of Chocolate Support Ukraine Aid Action Just Before Christmas
A large shipment of chocolate seized by police in Marburg will now bring some festive cheer to Ukraine. The 1,029 bars were handed over to a relief charity after their owners could not be traced. The donation was officially transferred to Global Aid Network (GAiN) on December 10, 2025, just in time for Christmas deliveries.
The chocolate was first confiscated during a routine traffic stop on October 22, 2025. When authorities were unable to identify the rightful owners, the goods were cleared for redistribution. Instead of going to waste, the bars were passed on to GAiN, a charity running aid convoys to Ukraine.
The handover took place at GAiN’s logistics centre on Siemensstraße 13 in Gießen. Mr. Schmidt, the charity’s Logistics Manager, received the donation on behalf of the organisation. The chocolate will now be packed alongside other essential supplies and transported to Ukraine, where it is expected to arrive before Christmas. GAiN has been coordinating relief efforts for months, delivering food, medical supplies, and seasonal comforts to those affected by the conflict. This latest shipment adds a small but meaningful touch to their ongoing work.
The chocolate will join other aid supplies heading to Ukraine in the coming days. With the festive season approaching, the donation aims to provide a moment of warmth for families facing hardship. The shipment marks another step in GAiN’s efforts to support communities in need.
