Burglary and abandoned toolboxes spark police investigation in Butzbach
Police in Butzbach are investigating a burglary in Ober-Mörlen and the discovery of five abandoned toolboxes nearby. The incidents may be linked, with officers urging anyone with information to come forward. The toolboxes, found empty on Monday, belong to a well-known brand and could hold clues to the crime.
The burglary took place between 2:10 PM and 7:10 PM in Ober-Mörlen. The thief forced open a patio door, causing an estimated €500 in damage. Jewellery and a black sports bag were stolen, though the total value of the missing items remains unclear.
On the same day, five steel-grey DeWalt toolboxes were found near Kirchgöns/Ebersgöns Road, close to a forest. The empty cases originally contained an angle grinder, rotary hammer, cordless screwdriver, handsaw, and circular saw. Authorities suspect a connection between the discarded tools and the break-in.
Police have yet to identify the owner of the toolboxes. They are asking for the public's help in tracing both the owner and any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area.
The investigation is ongoing, with officers focusing on the abandoned toolboxes as a potential lead. Anyone with details about the suspect or the toolboxes is asked to contact Butzbach Police Station on 06033 / 70430. The case remains open as authorities work to recover the stolen property and identify those responsible.
