Bulldozer theft attempt fails after suspects abandon Komatsu D71 mid-escape

A failed theft attempt left a construction bulldozer damaged near Borken, Hesse, on Sunday. Unknown suspects tried to steal a Komatsu D71 machine before abandoning it after just 300 metres. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any details about the incident.

The incident took place in a gravel pit along the L3223, a road connecting Borken–Großenenglis and Wabern–Udenborn. The suspects managed to move the bulldozer from its original position but gave up shortly after starting their escape. The machine was left with minor damage, with repair costs estimated in the low three-digit euro range.

After failing to complete the theft, the perpetrators fled the scene on foot. Authorities have yet to identify any suspects but are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Homberg Police Station at +49 5681 774-0. The bulldozer, a heavy-duty Komatsu D71 model, was the target of the attempted theft. Despite the damage, the machine remains operational and was recovered by its owners after the incident.

The theft attempt caused minor financial loss but left no serious structural harm to the equipment. Police continue to seek leads in the case, urging local residents or passersby with relevant details to reach out. The investigation remains ongoing as of now.
