Budi95 Petrol Subsidy Scheme Launches Smoothly in Penang
The Budi95 petrol subsidy scheme has begun smoothly in Penang, with only one complaint reported on its first full day. The Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup (KPDN) is conducting random checks to ensure compliance and prevent misuse.
On the scheme's launch, KPDN checked 15 petrol stations and found no technical issues. The system worked well, offering RON95 petroleum at a subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre to eligible Malaysians with a valid driving licence and MyKad. Only one complaint was reported, due to user error, not a technical issue. The complainant mistakenly initiated an unsubsidised transaction after receiving approval for the subsidised rate. Moving forward, KPDN will focus on preventing foreign-registered vehicles from purchasing subsidised petroleum and verifying the authenticity of the MyKad used for the subsidy.
The Budi95 scheme's rollout in Penang has been successful so far, with minimal issues. KPDN's monitoring will help maintain the scheme's integrity and ensure it benefits eligible Malaysians.
