Braunschweig faces 30-hour district heating shutdown for urgent repairs
Around 60 households in central Braunschweig will face a temporary district heating outage this week. The interruption comes as BS Netz carries out urgent repairs on a damaged utility line near Gieselerwall. Residents in the affected area have already been notified through posted alerts. The outage is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6. Engineers expect the work to continue until roughly 2 p.m. the following day. During this time, heating supply will be cut off while crews repair the pipeline.
The affected streets include Gildenstraße, Alte Knochenhauerstraße, Petersilienstraße, Kalenwall, Gieselerwall, Konrad-Adenauer-Straße, Gieseler, Echternstraße, and Südstraße. BS Netz has assured residents that efforts are being made to limit disruption for both drivers and local households.
Notices detailing the shutdown were placed in the area ahead of the work. Authorities have urged those impacted to prepare for the temporary loss of heating during the repair period. Heating services should resume by Thursday afternoon once the pipeline is fixed. The repair work aims to restore full functionality to the district heating network. Residents with concerns have been advised to contact BS Netz directly for further information.
