Brandenburg Bank opens branch in Freiherr-von-Thüngen-Straße 13

Brandenburger Bank has opened a new branch in Fulda at Freiherr-von-Thüngen-Straße 13. The move follows the closure of its old location at Am Hafen 1 and marks a significant upgrade for customers. The bank also announced plans to redevelop its administrative site in the coming year.

The new branch officially opened on December 19, 2025, just one day after the old Am Hafen site shut its doors. Executives Jens-Uwe Oppenborn and Frank Robby Wallis led the inauguration, unveiling a fully modernised facility. All services, including self-service terminals, were transferred to the new address.

The building, originally constructed in 2000, had stood empty since October 2023 before entrepreneur Markus Bär purchased it on December 15, 2024. Brandenburger Bank then invested over €1.5 million in renovations and new equipment. The 280-square-metre space now operates almost entirely self-sufficiently, using rooftop solar panels and a connection to the district heating network. The location offers convenience for customers, situated between an Edeka supermarket and a medical centre. Free parking is available nearby, and a bus stop lies just steps from the entrance. Meanwhile, the bank’s administrative site at Am Hafen will undergo partial demolition and expansion in the next year. Lord Mayor Steffen Scheller attended the opening and highlighted the project’s role in revitalising a site once occupied by a savings bank.

The new branch replaces the former Am Hafen location, which closed permanently on December 18, 2025. Customers now have access to upgraded facilities in a more central position. The bank’s investment also supports Fulda’s ongoing development of underused urban spaces.
