BPOL-KS: Suspicion of dog theft leads to violent altercation

A dispute over a dog at Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe station turned violent on Monday. The incident began when a stranger untied the animal and attempted to walk off with it. Police were called to the scene after a physical confrontation broke out.

The trouble started outside a drugstore at the station. A 34-year-old man untied a 44-year-old’s dog and began leading it away. The owner gave chase, tackling the man to the ground and allegedly kicking him in the head.

Federal Police from Kassel arrived quickly and launched criminal proceedings against both individuals. Officers conducted interviews and gathered evidence before releasing the pair later that day. The dog, unharmed, was returned to its owner. Authorities are now asking for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with details about the altercation can contact the Federal Police Kassel on +49 561 81616 0. Press inquiries are being handled by Ibrahim Aras, the force’s media spokesperson.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police examining the circumstances of the confrontation. No charges have yet been filed, but officers continue to review the evidence. The dog’s owner and the other man involved have both been released pending further inquiries.
