Boy, 10, Suffers Severe Hand Injuries After Firecracker Attack at Playground
A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured after an unknown attacker placed a lit firecracker in his hood. The incident happened at Alla-Hopp playground in Bürstadt on December 15 at around 2:35 p.m. Police are still searching for the suspect, who remains unidentified.
The boy was at the playground when a stranger approached him from behind. The suspect grabbed his shoulder before slipping a burning firecracker into the hood of his coat. The child heard the fuse hissing and tried to pull the device out.
The firecracker exploded in his hand, causing significant injuries. Witnesses described the attacker as between 1.70 and 1.80 metres tall. He wore a yellow hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white Nike trainers. Despite investigations, no arrests have been made. The case remains unsolved, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
