Berlin's Oberschöneweide Gains 67 Waterfront Homes in New Housing Project

A new housing project in Berlin's Oberschöneweide is underway, aiming to address the city's housing shortage. The development, initiated by Rabe-Ero GmbH and Property Ventures GmbH, will add 67 new waterfront apartments and renovate ten boat moorings with associated dock facilities. Construction began in March 2025 and is expected to be completed by March 2027.

The Spree-side development fills a long-standing gap in Oberschöneweide’s cityscape, which has seen increased urban planning activity in recent years. The project includes a partially underground level spanning roughly 500 square meters of gross floor area. While some residents welcome the push for urban densification, others worry about the structural integrity of their homes. Rabe-Ero GmbH, the construction firm, has assured the public that safety standards are being met and neighboring buildings are being monitored.

The Tabbertstraße real estate project is set to provide much-needed homes in Treptow-Köpenick. Despite some residents' concerns, the developer is committed to ensuring the safety and stability of the surrounding area. The project's completion in 2027 is eagerly awaited as it seeks to contribute to Berlin's ongoing efforts to tackle its housing shortage.
