Bensheim police crack down on unsafe driving in traffic check

Bensheim police conducted a traffic check on Heidelberger Straße last Friday afternoon, uncovering several offenses. The operation, held between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM, resulted in the recording of six seatbelt violations and one instance of mobile phone use while driving.

The traffic check, conducted on November 7, focused on ensuring road safety. Officers found that six drivers had failed to wear seatbelts, a crucial safety measure. Additionally, one driver was caught using a mobile phone while driving, a practice that has been illegal in Germany since 2017 and carries a fine of €100 and a one-month driving ban.

The head of the press office of the Südhessische Polizeidirektion, Bernd Hochstädter, can provide further details. He is based at Klappacher Straße 145 in Darmstadt and can be reached at 06151 / 969 - 13110.

The traffic check in Bensheim underscores the importance of road safety and the consequences of disregarding basic safety rules. The police remind drivers to always wear seatbelts and avoid using mobile phones while driving.
