Belarus Slashes Bereavement Benefits by 16.3 Rubles from November 1

Starting November 1, 2025, bereavement benefits in Belarus will decrease by 16.3 rubles. This change follows a decline in the nominal gross average wage in the country. The new benefit amount will be based on the average wage from September 2025, which is 2,746.4 rubles.

Despite the reduction, prices for burials and cremations at Minsk's State Funeral Service have remained unchanged. The cost of 'social funerals' in the city has also stayed the same. This is the second consecutive month that Belarus has reduced social security benefits. There is currently no public information available on changes to the amount of mourning support services from November 1st.

From November 1, the social security benefit will be recalculated based on the new average wage. While prices for funeral services have not changed, the reduction in social security benefits may impact families during their time of need.
