Belarus deploys AI-powered cameras to crack down on traffic violations

Belarus has expanded its traffic monitoring system with new cameras to catch red light violations and improper lane changes. The State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) and the Ministry of Communications will oversee the automated system. The updated Republican Public Safety Monitoring System now includes cameras that automatically detect traffic offences. Drivers who run red lights or make illegal lane changes will be recorded and fined through the system. No manual intervention is required. The new cameras will enforce traffic rules more efficiently by removing the need for on-site police checks. Fines will be issued automatically, and drivers will have multiple ways to settle payments. The system aims to reduce violations by ensuring quicker and more consistent penalties.
