Beelitz cuts back: Christmas trees smaller this year - Beelitz Downsizes Christmas Trees to Save Money
Beelitz is downsizing its Christmas trees this year to save money. The city has decided to use smaller trees, reducing transportation and installation costs. Despite this change, the traditional Advent lighting will remain the same and will be switched on after Dead Sunday.
In recent years, Beelitz has hired specialist firms to transport and set up its towering Christmas trees. However, the city has not disclosed the names of these companies. This year, to cut costs, the city has opted for smaller trees. This decision has allowed municipal workers to handle the installation using existing equipment, eliminating the need for expensive external services.
The city has made this change due to budget cuts. While the size of the trees will be smaller, the spirit of the season remains unchanged. The traditional Advent lighting, a beloved part of Beelitz's Christmas celebrations, will continue as usual and will be switched on after Dead Sunday on November 23.
Beelitz is adapting its Christmas tree tradition this year to save thousands of euros. The city is using smaller trees and municipal staff for installation, while keeping the Advent lighting ceremony unchanged. This move is a response to the city's budget cuts.
