So far, only a few detour bans in place during traffic jams in Bavaria - Bavaria's Autumn Half-Term: Districts Tackle Traffic Congestion
Several districts in Upper Bavaria are implementing measures to manage traffic congestion during the upcoming autumn half-term. Mayors in parts of the Munich district have shown support for through-traffic bans, with some restrictions already in place along major highways.
Police have been redirecting drivers at several exits along the A8 MunichâSalzburg and A93 RosenheimâKufstein highways since early September. In Berchtesgadener Land, drivers are turned back at Neukirchen/Teisendorf, Anger, and Piding exits. Similar restrictions near the A93 prevent drivers from using the Reischenhart and Brannenburg exits to clog local roads.
Rosenheim district is considering through-traffic bans for the winter, following the success of similar measures in neighboring districts. Miesbach district is also exploring options to manage traffic congestion, potentially adopting measures like those in Rosenheim. OstallgĂ€u district will introduce trial through-traffic bans to ease congestion caused by border controls at the FĂŒssen tunnel.
With Bavaria's autumn half-term beginning this Friday, these traffic management measures aim to reduce congestion on major routes. While mayors in Munich districts support through-traffic bans, no concrete plans have been announced yet. The effectiveness of these measures will be closely monitored to inform future traffic management strategies.
