Barry A. Schmidt, beloved banker and community pillar, dies at 76

Barry A. Schmidt, a long-time banking professional and devoted family man, passed away unexpectedly at Hershey Medical Center on November 21, 2025. He was 76. Known for his love of the beach and community spirit, Schmidt spent his later years driving the local Amish in Mount Joy after retiring from a career in finance.

Born on July 15, 1949, in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, Barry was the son of Rudolph and Margaret Schmidt. He graduated from Sun Valley High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in business from Penn State. His early adulthood included service in the United States Navy aboard the USS Holland.

Private services will be held to honour Barry’s life. Those wishing to remember him are encouraged to make donations to the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County. His sudden passing leaves behind a legacy of family devotion, professional dedication, and kindness to his community.
