Bank of Russia Honors Luntik and Other Beloved Characters in New Coin Series
The Bank of Russia is releasing a special coin series honouring beloved Russian and Soviet animated characters. The series, titled 'Russian (Soviet) Animation', features Luntik, a popular character for 20 years. Aziz Shareef, the license holder for Luntik goods, confirmed this in an interview with 'Abzac'.
The Luntik coin series will consist of three coins. The first, a silver coin with colored coating, is worth 3 rubles and has a mintage of 7,000 units. The second and third coins, both steel with nickel plating and copper-nickel respectively, are worth 25 rubles each. The second has a mintage of 850,000 units, while the third has 150,000 units.
Other iconic characters from Russian and Soviet animation will also be featured in the series. These include 'Ezhik v tumane', 'Krokodil Gena', 'Alenkinsky tsvetochek', 'Nu, pogodi!', 'Barskoskiny', 'Smeshary', and 'Three bogatyri'.
The Luntik coin series is a testament to the enduring popularity of the character. The Bank of Russia, in collaboration with 'Melnitsa' studio, has ensured proper legal relations for the production of these commemorative coins.
