Bad Orb's Safety Week unites community against crime in 2026
Bad Orb hosted its annual Safety Week from March 1 to 8, 2026. The event brought together police, local officials, and residents to discuss crime prevention and community security. Activities included talks, demonstrations, and interactive programs for all age groups.
The week began with presentations on current scams, led by Senior Detective Silvia Traber. She warned about fraud tactics like the 'grandparent scam' and imposters posing as police officers. Local community officer Susen Pradel also provided guidance on personal safety measures.
The youth traffic school ran its 'MAXimal Mobil' program, focusing on older road users. Meanwhile, KOMPASS specialist advisors and town representatives shared updates on the ongoing KOMPASS security initiative. A highlight was the Hesse State Police Orchestra's performance, blending music with practical crime prevention tips. On the final day, a mounted police patrol attracted families and children. The event's organisers, including Marc Sachs and Franz-Josef Hiery, noted strong public engagement. They emphasised the value of face-to-face dialogue and on-site prevention efforts. No other cities or municipalities in Hesse have reported similar 'Sicherheitswochen' events for 2025 or 2026.
The Safety Week in Bad Orb wrapped up with positive feedback from attendees and officials. The combination of educational talks, practical demonstrations, and community interaction reinforced local trust in police prevention work. Organisers confirmed plans to continue such initiatives in future years.
