Austria approves NÖM AG’s takeover of Vorarlberg Milch in dairy sector shake-up

Austria's Federal Competition Authority has given the green light to the merger between NÖM AG and Vorarlberg Milch. The deal, which was overwhelmingly supported by Vorarlberg's dairy cooperative members, sees NÖM AG take over production operations, with milk producers gaining a 3% stake and a supervisory board seat.

The merger, advised by bpv Hügel, involves NÖM AG acquiring Vorarlberg Milch's production facilities in Feldkirch, which will now operate under the NÖM Group. Despite the acquisition, Raiffeisen-Holding NÖ-Wien and MGN Milchgenossenschaft Niederösterreich retain majority shares in NÖM AG. The deal was approved following a positive vote from 96.47% of Vorarlberg's dairy cooperative members.

The merger of NÖM AG and Vorarlberg Milch, which includes the acquisition of production facilities in Feldkirch, is set to strengthen NÖM AG's position in the Austrian dairy market. Milk producers will have a stake in the company and a say in its governance, while NÖM AG maintains majority shareholders.
