Aus4Skills Launches: 19 VET Leaders Learn Australian Quality Assurance

A two-day Introductory Workshop, attended by 19 senior leaders from Vietnamese vocational education and training (VET) colleges, has kicked off the Aus4Skills initiative. The event, held on June 10th and 12th, was launched with opening remarks from Ms. Jennie Dehn and Dr. Phạm Vũ Quốc Bình. The workshop focused on understanding and adopting quality assurance (QA) practices from Australia.

The Introductory Workshop covered a range of topics, including Australia's national VET regulatory standards and a comparison of VET regulation between Vietnam and Australia. Participants also delved into Chisholm Institute's approach to academic quality. Key learning outcomes included understanding risk-based and digital internal QA, implementing Australian best practices in internal QA tools, and adopting risk-based external QA approaches.

The Knowledge Exchange in Quality Assurance in VET will continue with Stage 2, a week-long program in Australia starting on June 16th. This stage will focus on QA topics through active engagement and site visits. The initiative is led by Chris Hogg, who has contributed significantly by enhancing quality assurance mechanisms in vocational education through strategic oversight and the implementation of international best practices.

Following the Australian Knowledge Exchange, the Aus4Skills initiative will conclude with coaching participants in workplace application projects and a consultation workshop in Hanoi. This final stage aims to share learnings and adapt them to the Vietnamese context, ensuring the sustainability and impact of the initiative.
