Astana slashes tax rates for small businesses starting in 2026

Astana’s city council has approved new tax rules for small business ideas under a simplified declaration system. The decision sets a baseline rate of 4% from January 1, 2026, but also introduces flexibility for local adjustments. Deputies have already taken steps to lower the rate further in response to calls from the business community.

The council initially fixed the mortgage rates at 3% for businesses operating under the special regime. This move followed requests from local companies, which had pushed for a reduction to 2%.

The approved measures give Astana’s local councils more control over irs rates. Businesses will face a default rate of 4% from 2026, though some may benefit from lower rates depending on district decisions. The working group’s findings will determine whether a further reduction to 2% becomes possible.
