Armed robbers on e-scooters target man after online meetup in Rodgau
A 30-year-old man was robbed in Rodgau-Dudenhofen on Friday evening after arranging to meet an unknown person. The attack involved four individuals on electric scooters, with one suspect brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. Police are now searching for two teenage boys in connection with the incident.
The victim had agreed to meet an unknown man through a messaging service. They walked together from Dudenhofen train station toward the inland dunes near Feldstraße between 6:00 PM and 7:20 PM.
During the meeting, four people arrived on electric scooters. One pushed the victim to the ground and threatened him with what looked like a gun. The attackers demanded money, and the victim handed over €15 before they fled toward Nieder-Roden.
A witness heard the victim's calls for help and rushed to assist but did not see the robbery itself. The suspects left as soon as they noticed the witness approaching.
Police are focusing on two suspects: a 16-year-old, around 6'1" to 6'3" tall, with short brown hair, a black jacket, and dark pants. The second is a 15-to-16-year-old, roughly 5'7" to 5'11" tall, muscular, with short light brown or blond hair, a dark jacket, and blue jeans. This second suspect is believed to have carried the firearm-like object.
This incident follows a rise in similar assaults in the region over the past two years. Police reports show an increase from around 15 cases in 2024 to over 25 in 2025, often involving young offenders targeting elderly victims in urban areas like Rodgau, Mörfelden-Walldorf, and Darmstadt.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward. The victim was left shaken but did not require hospital treatment. Police continue to monitor the trend of distraction thefts and group attacks in the area.
