Armed Robber in Black Flees Gießen Gas Station With Cash
A gas station on Schiffenberger Weg in Gießen was robbed at gunpoint late last night. The suspect fled on foot with cash, leaving employees and a witness unharmed. Police have launched a manhunt but so far have no leads.
The robbery took place yesterday evening when an armed man entered the station. He brandished a pistol and demanded money from the cash register before escaping toward the city centre. The suspect wore a white FFP2 mask, a black jacket, dark trousers, and a blue hooded sweatshirt, carrying a black bag.
Police described him as roughly 170–175 cm tall, speaking accent-free German. No injuries were reported among the staff or a witness present during the incident. Authorities are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the man before or after the robbery to come forward.
A large-scale search followed but produced no results. Investigators are taking tips on +49 641 7006-6555. Media inquiries should be directed to the Mittelhessen Police Headquarters Press and Public Relations office.
No similar assaults have been recorded in the Gießen region over the past six months. The only notable nearby incident was a cannabis plantation raid in Laubach on February 3, 2026, involving two fleeing suspects but no violence.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police urging the public to share any relevant information. The suspect's description and direction of escape are key details in the search. Authorities continue to monitor the area for further developments.
