Argentina tightens e-invoicing rules under new tax resolution

Argentina has introduced new rules for electronic invoicing and voucher issuance, with the changes outlined in General Resolution No. 5616/2024 taking effect on December 18. Businesses must now follow updated procedures for recording transactions and client details. The resolution requires companies to include the VAT status of clients on all electronic receipts, with this applying to transactions processed under the updated news. For foreign currency dealings, the exchange rate used must be clearly stated on the issued receipt. If a transaction in the same foreign currency is later canceled, the system will apply the National Bank of Argentina's selling exchange rate from the end of that day's operations. Businesses using 'New Technology' or 'Tax Controllers' for foreign currency operations must now issue vouchers electronically, with these vouchers meeting the specified technical and procedural requirements set out in the resolution. The new rules apply to all relevant transactions from December 18, 2024. Companies handling foreign currency must ensure compliance with the updated invoicing and exchange rate recording procedures. No specific effects on businesses with frequent foreign currency transactions have been reported so far.
