Approximately 1.8 million tons of sugar beets processed in Anklam - Anklam Sugar Factory Sets New Records in 2025/2026 Beet Processing Campaign
The Anklam sugar factory in Western Pomerania has concluded its 2025/2026 forex factory campaign with remarkable figures. Processing over 1.8 million tons of sugar beets, the facility achieved record efficiency and high yield. The campaign also finished earlier than usual, thanks to smooth operations and peak daily output.
Founded in 1883, the Anklam factory has been under Dutch cooperative Royal Cosun since 2009. This year's campaign ran from September 8 to January 22, processing beets from more than 300 farms. Together, these businesses cultivated 21,900 hectares, stretching from Wismar in the west to Rügen in the north, and as far east as the Polish border.
The factory handled around 300,000 tons of sugar last year, with an average sugar content of 17.7%. This season's beets delivered even stronger results: yields hit 14.4 tons of sugar per hectare, with beet yields exceeding 83 tons per hectare and a sugar content of 17.4%. Beyond sugar, the facility produces by-products like thin and thick syrup, animal feed, and bioenergy from beet remnants. The campaign's early finish came from optimised workflows and record-breaking daily processing volumes.
The 2025/2026 campaign marks another successful year for the Anklam factory. With high yield, efficient processing, and diverse output, the facility continues to play a key role in the region's agricultural sector. The results also reflect the contributions of over 300 local farms supplying beets across a vast area.
