Alice Helbig shatters glass ceilings in Leipzig's logistics leadership
Alice Helbig now leads the logistics division at Sievert Logistik in Leipzig, overseeing a team of 67 employees. Her career in logistics began after switching from tourism, starting with an apprenticeship in 2010. Since then, she has risen through the ranks while balancing further education and leadership roles.
Helbig first joined Sievert Logistik in 2011, drawn to the hands-on work with drivers and the details of dispatch and route planning. By 2013, she had completed additional training as a Certified Business Economist while working full-time. That same year, she took on her first leadership position as a team supervisor in dispatch.
In 2016, her responsibilities expanded when she was promoted to Head of Freight Forwarding. The role put her in charge of 14 administrative staff and 53 drivers, along with broader duties in personnel management, financial oversight, and fleet operations. Today, she handles site revenue, profitability, and customer relationships while managing a team of 67.
Known for her direct leadership style, Helbig addresses issues immediately to challenge stereotypes in the male-dominated industry. She values the varied perspectives within her team, believing diverse approaches improve daily problem-solving. The company supports her and other employees with structured development programs and flexible working hours to help balance work and family life.
Her role demands constant multitasking, a skill she has refined through years of navigating operational challenges. Looking ahead, Helbig intends to keep growing both professionally and personally while staying with Sievert Logistik.
Helbig's journey from an apprenticeship to leading a major division reflects her commitment to continuous learning and leadership. The company's support for training and work-life balance has played a key role in her progression. Her focus now remains on driving the division's success while maintaining her direct and inclusive approach.
