Aflac’s Massive Data Breach Exposes 22 Million Records

A major data breach at Aflac, a US insurance company, has put the personal details of over 22 million people at risk. The incident happened in June 2022, but the firm only confirmed the exposure in December that year. The breach affected both customers and employees, leaking sensitive information like Social Security numbers and contact details. No group has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack. Aflac responded by offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to those affected. These services have been available since the breach was first detected. The company has not yet identified the source of the breach. Free protection services remain in place for impacted individuals. Over 22 million records were exposed in the incident.
