Hessian AfD elects new board - AfD’s Hesse leadership faces re-election test after 2023 surge

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Hesse is set to hold a crucial state party conference in Neuhof this Saturday. The event will centre around electing a new state executive board, with the current co-spokespersons, Robert Lambrou and Andreas Lichert, seeking re-election.

The upcoming conference follows the AfD's strong performance in the 2023 Hessian state election, where it secured 18.4% of the vote, positioning itself as the second-strongest party behind the Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

At the conference, party members will gather to discuss and vote on the future leadership of the Hessian AfD. The current leading duo, Lambrou and Lichert, have been at the helm since the last state conference and are now seeking to continue their leadership for another term.

The outcome of Saturday's conference will shape the future direction of the Hessian AfD. The election of the new state executive board will be a significant step in determining the party's strategy and priorities moving forward.
