Aengevelt Transforms Frankfurt Offices into Serviced Apartments
Aengevelt Immobilien has initiated a proactive approach to transform uncompetitive office spaces into serviced apartments in Frankfurt's Ostend district, catering to the growing demand for such accommodations. The project involves leasing around 2,600 square meters of former Microsoft 365 space for conversion into micro-apartments.
The Ostend district, known for being one of Frankfurt's most established business areas, has seen a surge in demand for serviced apartments, despite the limited supply. This market pressure has led to many former Office 365 spaces being repurposed into residential units. The project in Ostend is expected to take around 15 months to complete, with an anticipated opening between late 2026 and early 2027.
Meanwhile, other developments are also underway in the city. PGIM Real Estate is working on a micro-living concept in Gallus, set to provide over 300 micro-apartments for students and young professionals, scheduled for completion in early 2029. In Niederrad, the livinit project is nearing completion, featuring 375 apartments primarily for hospitality and gastronomy workers. Unimo is the developer behind this project.
The conversion of former Microsoft spaces into serviced apartments is gaining traction in Frankfurt, offering a modern alternative to traditional housing. The Ostend project, along with others like the livinit project in Niederrad and PGIM Real Estate's micro-living concept in Gallus, reflects the city's response to the growing demand for serviced apartments.
