Fine for squatters of Dondorf printing press in Frankfurt - Activist Fined €2,100 for Occupying Frankfurt's Dondorf Printing Press

A 28-year-old activist has been fined €2,100 by the Frankfurt District Court for occupying the former Dondorf Printing Press in Bockenheim from December 14 to 19, 2023. The building, previously managed by the Goethe University and considered for a Max Planck Institute, is now temporarily home to the Schirn Art Hall.

The defendant, along with other activists, refused to comply with police orders to vacate the premises. The court ruled that the occupation constituted trespassing, leading to the fine. The exact amount totals 60 daily fines of €35 each. The occupier's identity and the prosecutor's details remain unknown, as search results are inconclusive. Meanwhile, the Schirn Art Hall has moved into the building as an interim location while its usual venue undergoes renovations.

The former Dondorf Printing Press, once a site of debate for demolition and repurposing, now houses the Schirn Art Hall. The occupier's fine serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of such actions, regardless of the building's future.
