A fire broke out in a residential building on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße in Kassel on December 8, 2025. The blaze started in a restaurant inside the property, forcing the evacuation of residents and nearby tenants. Authorities have ruled out arson as the cause.

Investigators believe a forgotten candle triggered the fire. Flames spread quickly, leading to smoke filling parts of the building. Four people suffered minor smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment.

No serious injuries were reported beyond the four hospitalised individuals. The cause has been confirmed as accidental, with no suspicion of foul play. Further inspections will determine the total impact on the property and surrounding units.
