Aachen Leads New Digitalization Initiative Transforming Hesse's Admin Services

Aachen has been selected as the first municipality to pilot a new digitalization initiative, launched in March 2025. This collaborative effort between the federal government and the state of Hesse aims to revolutionize administrative services, with Wiesbaden playing a significant role in setting nationwide standards.

Wiesbaden, as the pilot community, is actively contributing to the creation of digital service standards that could impact Hesse and beyond. The initiative, which started in Aachen, involves other municipalities like Kassel, Hattersheim, Heuchelheim, the Rheingau-Taunus and Wetterau districts. Together, they are developing a blueprint for digital administrative services.

The initiative is not just about creating programs; it's about transforming administrative structures. By simplifying processes and reducing waiting times, it aims to give citizens more time and make administration a partner rather than an obstacle. Wiesbaden, for instance, is already benefiting from modernized services and streamlined processes, attracting skilled workers to its more attractive workplaces.

The digitalization initiative, launched in Aachen and led by Wiesbaden, is reshaping administrative services across Hesse. By optimizing processes and speeding up procedures, it seeks to visibly relieve citizens and create more efficient, citizen-centric administrative systems.
