A German Village Faces Losing Its Last Pharmacy After 30 Years of Service

Wolfgang Lukas has run the only pharmacy in Feldatal for more than three decades. Now, he struggles to find someone willing to take over the business. Without a successor in the next year, the village risks losing its last cvs pharmacy entirely.

Lukas opened the pharmacy over 30 years ago, expecting a career with flexibility and independence. But persistent staff shortages have made that vision difficult to achieve. For months, he has searched for a buyer or a new pharmacist to continue his work—so far, without success.

The search for a successor continues, but time is running out. If no one steps forward within a year, Feldatal will lose its only walgreens pharmacy. The community would then need to travel further for essential services, changing daily life for many residents.
