71 drivers caught speeding at over 100 km/h on deadly Offenbach road

Police have caught 71 drivers speeding on Mühlheimer Straße in Offenbach during overnight checks. Three of them were travelling at over double the 50 km/h limit. The road has seen multiple deadly crashes in recent months, raising concerns about dangerous driving.

The operation took place after a series of serious accidents on the same stretch. In late November 2025, a collision killed three people. Just weeks later, another crash injured four.

Officers recorded 48 drivers receiving immediate fines, while 20 now face court proceedings. Three motorists were clocked at over 100 km/h, risking a driving ban. Two have already been identified, and one is suspected of driving without a valid licence. Authorities are investigating whether the extreme speeding was intentional. If confirmed, fines could double. The road's long, straight sections and dual lanes have long made it a hotspot for reckless driving.

The latest checks follow two major crashes in late 2025, one fatal and one causing serious injuries. Police continue to monitor the area, with stricter penalties possible for deliberate high-speed offences. Further enforcement actions are expected in the coming weeks.
