700 grams of cannabis found in routine traffic stop leads to arrest in Germany

A 21-year-old man was provisionally arrested in Groß-Zimmern on February 8, 2025, after police found around 700 grams of cannabis in his vehicle. The discovery came during a routine traffic stop, leading to further searches and the seizure of additional evidence.

The arrest took place at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Westendstraße, where officers conducted speed checks. Upon searching the suspect's car, they uncovered a large quantity of cannabis. A flare gun was also found inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the man's home turned up more cannabis and further evidence linked to the case. The Darmstadt Public Prosecutor's Office ordered a blood sample to be taken from the suspect as part of the investigation.

The suspect was later released after completing police procedures. However, he now faces an ongoing investigation for suspected armed cannabis trafficking.

Earlier that same day, around 0:40 a.m., the same individual had been involved in an altercation on Hanau's Am Ballplatz street. Reports indicate he aggressively approached minor girls and broke a glass bottle. No further legal or police updates have been reported since the arrest.

The case remains under investigation by authorities. The suspect, now free pending further proceedings, could face charges related to cannabis trafficking and weapons possession. No new developments have emerged in the year since the incident.
