70-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in High-Speed Overtaking Crash in Darmstadt

A serious road accident occurred in Darmstadt-Nord on Thursday, 20th, just after 1:00 PM. A 70-year-old woman lost control of her Renault after attempting to overtake several vehicles at high speed. The crash caused widespread disruption and left her with severe injuries.

The incident began when the driver attempted to overtake multiple cars on a busy stretch of road. Her vehicle struck a traffic island, flipping several times before colliding with another car and a nearby property wall. Debris from the crash spread across hundreds of metres, forcing police to close the area for recovery efforts.

The crash caused significant disruption to both road traffic and public transport for roughly an hour and a half. Investigations into the exact circumstances continue, while the injured driver remains in hospital. Authorities are working to determine whether a medical condition played a role in the crash.
