42 Skilled Workers Graduate from K+S Werra Plant's Apprenticeship Program

A graduation ceremony took place on January 30, 2026, at the Werra plant of K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH. The event celebrated 42 newly qualified skilled workers who completed their apprenticeships. Family, friends, and local officials gathered to honour their achievements in various technical and industrial fields.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks from Matthias Pfaff, deputy plant manager. He commended the graduates for their strong exam results and stressed how their skills would benefit both the company and the wider region.

Marc Wohlfarth, head of training at the Werra plant, formally declared the apprentices fully qualified. He also thanked the trainers and mentors who had supported them throughout their programmes. Following this, certificates were awarded to graduates in professions such as chemical plant operation, plant mechanics, and mining technology.

Uwe Seitz, head of Bad Hersfeld's vocational school branch, presented book prizes to the top-performing graduates. Meanwhile, Kerstin Kastner and Simon Taeger received special recognition from Daniel Zierd, head of chemical professions training, for their outstanding progress.

Local dignitaries also took part in the celebrations. Torsten Warnecke, district administrator of Hersfeld-Rotenburg, gifted a traditional Stracke bread loaf to the event's moderators and musicians. Martin Rosenstengel, deputy district administrator of Wartburgkreis, highlighted the vital role of potash mining and skilled trades in sustaining the region's economy.

The graduates now enter the workforce as certified professionals in their respective fields. Their training at the Werra plant equips them with specialised skills needed in industries like chemical production, mechanical engineering, and mining. The ceremony marked both an end to their apprenticeships and the start of their careers.
